Located in the south of Tibet, China, at the confluence of the Yarlung Zangbo River and the Nyingchu River, Shigatse is currently the second largest city in Tibet. Shigatse has an altitude of up to 3,900 meters above sea level, it is the political, religious and cultural center of the former Houzhang Tibet, as well as the residence of successive generations of the Panchen. The predecessor of Hilton Shigatse Hotel is the old Shigatse Hotel built in 1985, which is the first batch of modern buildings completed in Tibet, engraved with the symbols of Tibetan culture and memory of the local generation, inherited high-quality service and hospitality, and sent people's yearning for the highest-end hotel at that time.

CHENGDU SLOW TOWN HOTEL DESIGN CO.LTD was invited to remodel the old building, taking 4 years to complete a new ambitious project that integrates architecture, landscape, and interior. Through the application of new Tibetan innovative design, avoiding the encroachment of the thousand years of Tibetan cultural heritage with simple modern design, and at the same time abandoning the full reproduction of tradition, the aim is to build the world's highest altitude international brand hotel.
