Wangfujing Xiyue Shopping Mall, as the golden business card of Beijing, embodies the 800-year commercial history of Wangfujing Street, becoming the epitome of modern commercial development in China. Tapping into the new energy of “Chinese Technology/New Art”, the design team has redefined the idea of shopping malls, aiming to create a super block where traditional culture and future technology collide and fuse, to meet the diverse needs of Generation Z and even the Alpha generation.

This project starts its narrative at Yuanshi Kou that serves as the main entrance to the commercial block. Extending from Yuanshi Avenue to Sundial Square, the area is designed with suspended ancient archways made of silver wires and cyberpunk Beijing rabbit god, narrating the long history of Wangfujing Street. Scenes like Shuijing Hutong and Jinjing Hutong, paired with innovative designs such as Qiankun Street and Qiankun Fang, further highlight a beautiful fusion of hutong commercial culture with future trends. As for design logic, the framework retains the traditional architectural style, using elements like upturned eaves and roof ridge beasts, while modern materials including stainless steel and metal alloys are subtly adopted to significantly improve spatial openness and transparency.

This shopping mall also makes innovations in merchant regulation. The uniform standards and shop management manuals have been meticulously developed for B1 catering and B2 retail formats. This ensures that every shop within the commercial block can decorate and operate itself to the best, creating a more elegant atmosphere and offering customers a more comfortable dining and shopping experience. Moreover, the non-boundary management approach and inclusive design principles applied to B2 retail format fully embody the design team’s deep understanding of social diversity and needs. The project provides a comprehensive space where every customer can find cultural resonance and emotional belonging.
