The intent of this concept is to EXPLORE FUTURE TRANSACTION EXPERIENCES USING AVATARS to stimulate discussion with NCR Atleos customers and consumers. These discussions inform the design of the next generation of Self-Service devices.

The design starts with the idea of an ATM as a digital billboard. The 4 areas of user experience interest are:

The large screen features a ‘floating UI’ which occupies a small portion of the display, allowing ATM use with impactful branding which is constantly present. The scale of the floating UI has been designed for easy arms-length operation with comfortably large text and buttons - large enough to be usable, while considering privacy. The software allows loading of different types of branding and marketing campaigns which in turn affects the colour theming of the hardware lighting.

The software demonstrates a gestural, numerical input mode for accessible interaction. The floating interaction elements on screen are placed in the curved portion of the screen to improve user reach and comfort – with the rest of the large display being usable for a large virtual human, advertising, or other graphical assets such as lifestyle photography or motion graphics.

Finally, the user interface demonstrates a pre-recorded example of a large screen teller ‘avatar’. This is effectively a digital puppet which would sync to the facial and lip movements of a remote teller via an iPhone camera. This technology would allow a bank to present a consistent brand experience with a remote teller workforce. On screen the presentation of a virtual human with live facial mapping and real voice capture to apply a ‘corporate skin’ to a real teller means that call centre staff can be anywhere in the world, dressed how they want, and the ATM experience can be “tailored” so the virtual human reflects the brand and culture of the bank.

The end of the transaction reveals a cash slot that brings a small degree of theatre to the transaction along with halo lighting around the display that can change colour to reflect the brand, differentiate between different transaction states, or to reflect the current level of service.
