To lead a life is an intriguing, ongoing process of self-discovery. Along the path, a living space is never to be taken lightly as a mere passive backdrop, but rather a potent catalyst that inspires, stimulates every imagination of its inhabitants' evolving narratives.

Nestled in the heart of Taipei, this 175-square-meter residence enjoys a privileged location between the lush Da-An Forest Park and the iconic Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall. Here, large, uninterrupted windows serve as portals to the outdoor greenery, infusing the interiors with an abundance of natural light. Moreover, initiating the planning process early during the flat's bare-shell state has allowed for maximum flexibility in accommodating the future needs of this household of two.

The overall design embodies an understated yet elegant approach, bringing in nature to command and inspire a deeper sensory experience through the evolving sights and sounds of the surrounding vistas. In this private terrain called ‘home’, embraced by its tranquil vibes, residents effortlessly embark on a virtual odyssey of beauty and self-reflection.

The layout encompasses open-plan communal areas, two bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a study. The L-shaped living area boasts ample daylight and panoramic view through full-scale windows, instilling vitality, dissolving boundaries and confinement. While the interconnected living, dining and island-counter promote conversation and interactions, the organic textures of wood and stone imbue the space with a cozy and warm touch.

Use of synthetic substances has been kept at minimum to facilitate flexibility and inclusivity of a healthy and sustainable lifestyle. Low-VOC, sturdy materials ranging from wire-brushed veneer, LOTOS plaster, engineered stone and solid surfaces provide practicality and resilience in combating against Taiwan's hot, humid weather conditions.
