Situated at the expansive Tamsui River estuary in Taiwan, this project occupies a prime waterfront spot within the mangrove forest, providing a breathtaking view of international ecological landscapes. Crafted by renowned Japanese architect Paul Noritaka Tange, the mansion evokes the elegance of a poised yacht, balancing between the hustle of the world and serene seclusion, nestled by the water's edge and embraced by the mountains. It feels as though a protective shield has been cast over the residence, harmoniously blending material and spiritual aspects within a serene ambiance.

"Life is like a vast ocean, sometimes turbulent, sometimes calm as a mirror. We sail forward on our ships, exploring adventures, experiencing the sea and scenery along the way, ultimately finding our own safe harbor." The designer interprets life as a "voyage," constructing interior spaces inspired by the concept of yachts, incorporating the beauty of mountains and seas, creating a healing lifestyle within nature, embodying the warm symbolism of home as a safe haven.

Following the context of yacht design, the spatial form is outlined through dual sightlines: one facing the river view indoors and the other, a corridor leading from the entrance to the dressing room. These parallel lines resemble the port and starboard of a yacht. The central dining room, acting as a stable and functionally independent ship deck, forms a viewing platform. The master bedroom has two entrances, transforming flexible pathways into scenic corridors, allowing the sky, river view, and sunlight to penetrate the entire spatial context.

The space draws inspiration from the iconic bow and deck of a yacht, presenting a luxurious and relaxing vacation ambiance through artistic interpretation. The ceiling adopts free-flowing, dynamic curved shapes, echoing the undulating waves of the river, framing the space with free and agile forms, infusing life with a sense of ritual and serene poetry.
