TAFALONG is one of the largest and oldest tribes among the Pangcah people in Taiwan. The "TAFALONG" exhibition creatively weaves artifacts and myths together to present the rich history and culture of the tribe. Through various workshops, social media engagements, and the digitization of cultural artifacts, this exhibition offers visitors a diverse and in-depth way to understand the exhibition.
The key visual concept uses the land as a primary symbol; the layered TAFALONG Chinese characters resemble the geological strata encapsulating thousands of years of tribal experiences. Also, the color scheme carries significance: while the color black represents the soul and the nurturing of life in Pangcah tradition, the color green symbolizes new life, such as farming and sprouting. The combination of these colors resembles the everlasting circle of life of its tribal culture full of power from the earth.
The continuity of TAFALONG’s visual design is created with its color and font integration, reaching the goal of consistency in identification throughout the exhibition. The totem derived from the logotype has various applications in different media, including brochures, posters, merchandise, and opening ceremonies. It is also presented in digital interfaces, such as promotional videos, social media, filter effects, and the website. With motion design, it enhances the effectiveness in conveying both the visual and conceptual message.
