Aristocracy London is a luxury menswear fashion house that creates limited edition suits and formalwear accessories for the modern gentleman.

Aligning with the brand’s identity and ethos, product packaging was designed with three priorities in mind: style, sustainability and functionality. Suits are Aristocracy London’s flagship product and their box is “dressed” in a shirt and blazer that buttons with a wax stamp. The “suit in a suit” concept is stylish and fun, adding a sense of occasion when the customer unpacks their new suit. In a time of fast fashion and unsustainable purchasing habits, the packaging invites customers to open it slowly, appreciate their new suit and value the time and craftsmanship it took to make it. In terms of sustainability, the box is reusable, foldable and recyclable while the customised tissue paper is made with acid-free FSC certified paper and soy-based ink. Moreover, thanks to luxury features such as the matte lamination finish and the gold foil logo, the packaging can also be used for gifting. During the design phase, we also considered functional necessity and how we’d ensure that the suit would arrive to the customer in the best state possible. To this effect, we carefully selected the dimensions to ensure each suit is only folded once to avoid wrinkling. Finally, trivia about the history of suits are printed on the back alluding to London’s long history in men’s tailoring.

Aristocracy London’s other products, e.g. shirts, shoes, card holders, pocket watches, cummerbunds etc., come in luxury boxes that align to the brand’s navy and gold visual identity and can be repurposed as gift packaging. They’re fully reusable and recyclable. Acknowledging the delicate nature of some products, pocket watches and card holders are placed in a navy velvet pouch before going in the box and shoes come with a bespoke dust cover bag. These provide added protection, especially if the owner wants to pack them for travelling.

Overall, our concept proves that neither sustainability not functionality preclude packaging from being beautiful and luxurious.
