Al Taulell, spanning over 145m2, is a unique restaurant in Valencia that seamlessly merges the beauty of nudity with architectural design. Conceived by the Viruta Lab architecture and interior design studio, the project pays homage to a historic neighborhood in Valencia, capturing its architectural essence within the restaurant's interior.

The design of Al Taulell draws inspiration from the lively markets that characterize the Arrancapins neighborhood, incorporating elements reminiscent of canvas and metal stalls that populate its streets. The interior exudes the traditional charm of Valencia's architecture, featuring exposed bricks, paint patinas, and original ironwork from the neighborhood's windows.

Viruta Lab's thoughtful interventions, such as incorporating the iconic Alicante shutter and utilizing elements of Valencian traditions, contribute to the respect and preservation of Valencia's emblematic neighborhoods. The imperfect and raw character of the space adds authenticity, echoing the weekly street markets that define the neighborhood.

The restaurant's geometric irregularity allows for effective zoning, creating distinct areas within the space. A lobby, resembling a fresh product showcase, leads to a dining room with continuous tables that promote social interaction. The double-height bar in the foyer, embracing a semi-open kitchen, invites patrons to immerse themselves in a new gastronomic experience.

Arched shelves and storage modules divide the space, adorned with decorative elements that infuse warmth and coziness. The dining room features tall longitudinal tables, reminiscent of communal bars, reinforcing the neighborhood's social character. Semicircular heads on some tables offer an independent experience for those seeking a quicker, more informal tapas experience.

Viruta Lab's creative team designed the restaurant's furniture, embracing a refined Art Nouveau aesthetic and a minimal color palette. Metal profiles with circular sections on porcelain form the bars and tables, crowned by suspended acoustic domes that provide both light and functionality. The untreated iron gratings on the ceiling contribute to the street-like atmosphere, aging over time and integrating into the historical patina of the space.

Al Taulell serves as a cultural bridge, rescuing the traditional, social, and human facets of Valencia's heritage. A synthesis of tradition and avant-garde, the restaurant pays homage to authentic street markets and celebrates the Mediterranean lifestyle.
