"Black Samurai," a beloved eatery in Taipei's East District, faced a challenge when moving to a new location amid changing demographics. The goal was to modernize the outdated decor and conservative brand image. The designer sought to elevate the brand by combining ritualistic quality with innovative design, preserving the signature spicy soup base's taste memories while incorporating fresh techniques. The solution blended innovative design with social media trends, creating a fresh brand identity. This approach embraced the social media check-in culture, preserving the brand's heritage while enhancing its value, successfully modernizing it.

Traditional Chinese hot pot, initially a nutritious wartime meal with special spices, later became a symbol of hospitality in family and social settings. The designer drew inspiration from Chinese samurai, symbolizing nobility and virtue, incorporating elements from Tang Dynasty samurai armor, including metallic details and intricate decorations signifying status.

Drawing from the diverse color palette of spicy soup base including fresh red, orange, deep red, and black, , the foyer and reception area ignite appetites with a vibrant red color palette. Through the interplay of shades, along with carefully crafted lighting and shadows, an intense yet refined sense of luxury is added. This design invites guests into a visual and culinary feast, where the layers of light and shadow create a captivating ambiance, enhancing the overall dining experience.

Restaurant walls feature fabric-textured wallpaper and craft-like metal screens resembling ancient Chinese warriors' armor and garments. This vivid interpretation reflects the brand's core values and cultural essence. A series of neatly arranged art installations on the walls, combining dried wood, floral arrangements, and fabric, not only showcase a rich Eastern aesthetic but also infuse the brand with unique cultural depth and aesthetic experiences. Notably, booth seating inspired by classical Chinese "Grandmaster Chairs" features soft headrests and backrests with delicate red piping, providing exceptional comfort and honorable. Specially designed lighting fixtures, inspired by beauty influencers' ring lights, prevent shadows and allow easy capturing of hot pot dishes. This encourages customers to share ideal photos, boosting social media exposure.
