Costa-Suzhou Old Xietang Street Store

The project comprises a harmonious fusion of Chinese and Western cultures, situated in the historic Xietang Old Street characterized by ubiquitous white walls and grey tiles in Suzhou. It aims to seamlessly blend traditional Eastern design with the modern style of a Western coffee shop, creating a contemporary space for leisure and socialization imbued with the Chinese Watertown's mood.

The project site's traditional architectural style starkly contrasts with the modern brand image. In this context, the design team, employing innovative methods, adeptly integrates coffee culture with ancient Chinese architecture without compromising the integrity of the traditional architecture by replacing the traditional storefront signboard with a plaque adorned with local elements. The brand logo is cleverly incorporated into the plaque and round shop sign, ensuring visual continuity between the brand image and Chinese architecture. These measures not only enhance the visual appeal of the space but also foster a sense of identity and belonging among customers.



The interior space design places great emphasis on optimal space utilization, achieved by overlapping combinations that merge the operational space and staircase. Additionally, the seating area is segmented into private spaces using wood carving parquet folding screens. Coffee elements are skillfully interwoven with the aesthetics of the Wumen Painting School, silk, and embroidery, while plants are strategically placed to accentuate the delicate and elegant Chinese Watertown's mood.

The furniture design is rooted in Chinese style with European decorative elements. By simplifying Chinese furniture, the design team effectively merges the classic Chinese furniture arhat beds with booths, which echo the wooden floor, ultimately creating a comfortable and captivating seating area imbued with Suzhou charm.
