This eye clinic is part of a chain with 22 branches across Taiwan, owned by two doctors. The objective of the project was to link the clinic at the back of the building to the new shop, allowing patients to have a look at the glasses right after the examination.

The structure is made of four different areas, each serving different functions. Transitions between them have been designed to be smooth and coherent. To match with this spirit, the transition among different areas is accompanied by a transition in the materials used. Inspired by the warmth and comfort of medical spaces depicted in the South Korean drama "Hospital Playlist," the design creates a welcoming and stress-relieving atmosphere.

Upon entering the shop, on the right side are high-end glasses, and on the left side are budget-friendly ones. Bright lighting illuminates the central island and shelves where glasses are categorized by price range. In the operating room, detachable doors and partitions facilitate the movement of surgical equipment, optimizing functionality.

The tunnel-like corridor connects the consultation rooms to the glasses store, but also serves as a waiting room before consultations. Knowing that health examinations can be stressful, this area aims at creating a relaxing atmosphere. Particular attention was paid to lighting and to the shape of the tunnel. Curved and quarter-circle lines were incorporated instead of full arches, to avoid making the space feel too narrow. This interesting design prevents from giving an anxiogenic feeling, bringing at the same time gentleness to the interior.

Integrating the needs and preferences of the structure's four departments posed a significant challenge, requiring extensive discussions and meticulous planning. Despite this, the project succeeded in not only fulfilling its functional objectives, but also in prioritizing patient comfort and meeting the practitioners' requirements.
