The "Park of Tides - Hac Sa Beach Trail" project, located on the scenic Hac Sa Beach in Macau, is a thoughtful integration of nature, accessibility, and modern design. Built on previously idle land, the project aims to create a seamless pedestrian trail that connects the beach’s two sides while offering recreational spaces for visitors of all ages. This accessible design prioritizes inclusivity, providing a continuous, barrier-free walkway that enhances the beach’s natural beauty and leisure potential.

Inspired by the ebb and flow of the tides, the design reflects the rhythmic movement of the sea. The once linear pathway has been expanded and transformed into a fluid, spacious trail that follows the natural landscape, overlaying the textures of waves and shorelines. This innovative approach creates a dynamic interaction between nature and design, allowing visitors to experience the beach in a more immersive way.

The park is divided into three distinct zones, each offering unique features. Zone A, the Leisure Area, welcomes families with playful entrance imagery, engaging playgrounds, and verdant landscaping, ensuring a lively environment for all. Zone B, the Exploration Area, encourages deeper interaction with the beach’s natural surroundings, featuring organic materials and spaces designed for outdoor activities. Zone C, or the Nature Area, takes advantage of the terrain’s natural beauty, with contemporary designs that create a multi-layered landscape, fostering reflection and connection with the environment.

A key challenge was designing accessible pathways while preserving the beach’s natural landscape. The team employed minimally invasive techniques, using low-saturation colors, permeable materials, and natural textures to reduce the visual impact. This ensures the project blends seamlessly with its surroundings while providing full functionality.

Sustainability is central to the project, incorporating eco-friendly lighting systems that automatically adjust intensity and color temperature to protect local wildlife and plants. This approach preserves the delicate ecosystem, creating a project that is both environmentally responsible and visually captivating.
