The K-PASS card is designed to go beyond a simple payment tool, encouraging daily use of public transportation and promoting eco-friendly mobility. Developed under BC Card's proprietary brand, ‘Baro Card,’ this project is based on collaboration with government policies supporting sustainable consumption and the activation of public transport use. Its main goals are to provide users with economic benefits while promoting public transport use and reducing carbon emissions. From the planning stage, BC Card emphasized eco-friendly imagery by using recycled plastic and textures that mimic recycled paper, creating a design that resonates with public transport users.
The card’s design features a cartoon illustration of a foot, creating a humorous and inviting image that aligns with the sensibilities of younger generations. These visual elements not only provide practical and aesthetic satisfaction but also reinforce the brand’s positive image. Additionally, the K-PASS is engineered to integrate seamlessly with various eco-friendly transportation modes such as walking, biking, and public transit. It offers convenient features that enable users to make payments easily at any time and place, and it includes distinctive visual elements that are recognizable at each transaction point, ensuring optimal functionality across diverse user lifestyles.
The friendly and playful design and messaging help users easily remember and practice a sustainable lifestyle. By reflecting the values and sensibilities of younger generations, the K-PASS card leaves a strong impression, deeply integrating into users’ daily lives while simultaneously offering eco-friendly mobility and tangible economic benefits.
