The Shenzhen Reading Month, initiated by the Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee and Government in 2000, has been continuously held for 25 years as a city-level cultural event.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) awarded Shenzhen the honorific title of "Model City of Global Literacy" to recognize the city's unwavering efforts in promoting internationalization and global cultural exchange, particularly in the areas of book promotion and reading.

As a public cultural festival driven by the government, the Shenzhen Reading Month has become an integral part of citizens' lives, serving as a cultural hallmark of the city. Participation has steadily increased over the years, rising from over 1.7 million people in the first edition to more than 10 million.

The Longhua District of Shenzhen has focused on building small, exquisite, and accessible urban libraries, proposing the concept of "Turning a Corner to Meet a Book, Libraries at Your Side." The district innovatively adopted a "government + society" co-construction and co-governance model to advance the development of these urban libraries. Currently, there are over 100 libraries in the district, covering residential areas, urban villages, enterprises, industrial parks, shopping centers, and tourist attractions, creating a vibrant reading atmosphere throughout Longhua.

For the 24th Shenzhen Reading Month, EdiGo planned activity formats and designed a series of posters tailored for the Longhua District's urban libraries.

The design inspiration came from the unique cultural hallmark of Longhua District—the urban libraries. These libraries are public cultural reading spaces built from scratch, aiming to cover public reading service areas within the district and create a "ten-minute reading circle," providing reading services right at citizens' doorsteps. Beyond reading, the urban libraries regularly host various cultural activities such as art exhibitions and cultural salons, offering rest and learning spaces to make the libraries more welcoming.
