Garden Group, a leading company in Japan specializing in the management of leisure and amusement facilities, has created a new headquarters office that reflects its commitment to sustainability and cultural enrichment. The interior design embraces two core themes central to the company’s identity: symbiosis with greenery and coexistence with art.

The first theme, inspired by the company’s name “Garden,” emphasizes a deep connection with nature. A dramatic full-height green wall in the entrance hall welcomes visitors with a lush display, setting the tone for the entire office. Greenery is not limited to public spaces; it flows throughout the workspace, contributing to a healthier, more productive, and creative environment. Located within the Urawa Garden Building, the headquarters benefits from a site thoughtfully set back from the street on three sides, allowing for the creation of serene garden zones. These green spaces act as buffers from the surrounding urban context and are linked to the interior via green walls, pathways, and terraces. The terraces, envisioned as elevated gardens, blur the boundaries between indoors and outdoors, providing quiet areas for contemplation and informal interaction.

The second theme, coexistence with art, transforms the workspace into a vibrant cultural environment. The office features a curated selection of artworks by internationally acclaimed artists such as Lee Ufan and Jim Dine. Sculptures and paintings are integrated into the design in a way that encourages reflection and inspiration, fostering an atmosphere that transcends conventional office aesthetics. The interplay between art and nature enhances spatial depth and reflects Garden Group’s “Vision Cycle” philosophy—an ongoing pursuit of innovation, beauty, and value creation.

Sustainability is woven into every element of the design. The green walls feature a high-efficiency irrigation system that minimizes water usage. Natural light is maximized to reduce energy consumption, and energy-saving technologies are integrated throughout the building.

This headquarters goes beyond function, offering a model of how architecture can nurture well-being, creativity, and sustainability through a harmonious blend of nature and art.
