Redesigning Onboarding and Enhancing Key Features for Early Years Educators



Tapestry is a leading digital platform supporting early years education settings in tracking and sharing children’s learning journeys. With a commitment to providing intuitive and accessible digital tools, Tapestry partnered with Spinning Fox to elevate the user experience—starting with a complete redesign of its onboarding process and a refinement of its most-used features.



At the heart of this project was a desire to simplify the way nurseries and schools first engage with the platform. Initial research revealed that onboarding felt overwhelming and unclear for many new users. In response, we developed a flexible, dynamic checklist that guided users through essential setup tasks in a way that matched their individual workflows—allowing them to skip, delegate, or complete steps in any order. This dramatically reduced friction, improved confidence, and set users up for long-term success.



With onboarding transformed, our attention turned to core features. Through collaborative workshops, user research, and iterative design, we reimagined key workflows to ensure they were intuitive, efficient, and aligned with real-world use cases. Importantly, all enhancements were integrated seamlessly into the existing platform—avoiding the disruption of a full rebuild.



Alongside UX improvements, the platform underwent a bold visual refresh. A modernised interface brought clarity and cohesion, strengthening Tapestry’s reputation as an industry leader in EdTech.



The result is a platform that feels as supportive and empowering as the educators who use it. Tapestry now offers a smoother path from first login to everyday use—boosting adoption, retention, and user satisfaction.
