In collaboration with Cathay Pacific, this project transforms five decommissioned aircraft trolleys into multifunctional mobile units, each tailored to a different industry — including a DJ station, mobile bar, darkroom, coffee workshop, and tailoring studio. With the rising global awareness of sustainability and reuse, the initiative addresses two major challenges: how to retain the trolley’s industrial heritage while reconfiguring it for new functionality, and how to infuse it with both practical and artistic value through cross-disciplinary design.

Each trolley maintains over 85% of its original structure through non-destructive laser cutting, with modular add-ons tailored to each use case — from a foldable ironing board to an embedded cocktail station. Surface treatments highlight the “scars” of service, celebrating durability and transformation with eco-conscious composite materials.

Visually striking and functionally robust, the trolleys are not just design objects — they are storytelling platforms that merge aviation heritage with contemporary creative practice. Whether powering a remote DJ set or serving espresso at a festival, each unit elevates everyday experiences while advancing the narrative of circular design.

The project garnered strong public and industry response. A one-day offline exhibition drew 180,000 visitors, with overwhelmingly positive feedback. Cathay Pacific is currently planning to scale the concept, and other airlines have expressed interest.

Ultimately, this initiative reframes waste as opportunity. By giving new purpose to forgotten tools of the sky, the SkyCraft Revival Project reimagines sustainability as an engaging, mobile, and beautifully crafted design journey — one that never stops moving forward.
