This project transforms an aging townhouse into a multifaceted commercial space that operates by appointment. Tucked away in a quiet alley, the storefront evokes poetic serenity with its weathered wooden doors, bamboo screens, and exposed mortise-and-tenon eaves—inviting visitors into a secluded haven reminiscent of an idyllic utopia. A subtle floor-level shift divides the front and rear zones. The front features a steel-framed glass canopy softened by sheer bamboo blinds, creating the feel of a sunlit garden conservatory. Deep gray walls and flooring provide a muted backdrop that enhances the charm of vintage furniture and lighting collected by the owner, forming a refined space for displaying and retailing aromatherapy products.
In the rear section, the ceiling is softly edged with curved contours and embedded light strips, visually minimizing the structural beams. Finished in gray-toned artistic paint, the space is accented with a thick-slab wooden table, woven pendant lights, timber flooring, and black iron shelving—elements that exude rustic charm and a sense of timeworn grace. Evoking the relaxed, nostalgic spirit of a southern French estate, the dual-tier iron racks are planted with various herbs, offering visual delight and culinary enhancement. The space flexibly functions as a private chef’s kitchen, reception venue, workshop, or themed classroom.
Topped with large-format tiles in a weathered iron finish, a custom-built kitchen island anchors the space as a hub for baking and culinary experiences. It fosters conversation and connection, offering guests a moment of calm, creativity, and indulgence in a warm, inviting ambience.
