Project Title: Qixin 2024AW Unwavering Commitment

This project is a book design series created for Qixin’s 2024 Autumn/Winter fashion collection, inspired by the untold stories of the “self-combing sisters”—a group of women in southern China who chose celibacy and self-reliance between the 19th century and 1940s. Viewed as unconventional at the time, these women defied traditional gender roles and chose to lead independent lives.

To echo the narrative depth of the collection, the design is structured into a triptych book series, displayed on a single board. The first book features editorial and lookbook images, layered with scenic imagery to create an atmospheric visual story that evokes the spirit and setting of the comb sisters. The second book is a curated archive of Qixin’s research—historic photographs, visual references, and cultural documents—that inform the design of the collection. The third book compiles translated poems, songs, and short biographies of individual self-combining women, preserving their voices and lived realities.

Unified through a minimalist visual language, all three books use the motif of a comb as a symbolic cover element, honoring the ceremonial act of hair-combing central to the sisters’ vow and identity.
