After more than two years of meticulous craftsmanship, flawless large base materials of red jade were selected to create this statue. Guided by the “Sculpture Measurement Sutra,” the work embodies the highest standards of Buddhist artistic tradition, reaching a height of 1.6 meters.

The statue is supported by nine dragons surrounding the Crown Prince, preserving the natural spirituality of the jade. The original stone shell is cleverly retained, with mineral pigments outlining a soaring dragon on the back, echoing the Buddhist belief in dragon protection.

The posture of the Buddha follows the natural distribution of colors in the red jade: strong red hues form the robe and backlight, while lighter tones define the body, expressing the philosophy of “unity of heaven and man.” Proportions adhere to the “Sutra of Stature Measurement,” ensuring the thirty-two phases and eighty traditional marks of the Buddha. The serene face, with compassionate eyes and lowered brows, reflects the spirit of looking upon sentient beings with benevolence.

Red jade, revered since ancient times as the “emperor among stones,” is prized for its rarity and warm texture. Its profound red symbolizes vitality, wisdom, and sacredness, aligning with the Buddhist concept of “solemnity and sufficiency.” In Buddhist symbolism, red represents compassion, the flame of wisdom dispelling ignorance, and the perfect state of “red light.” The jade’s moist, flexible texture reflects the dual qualities of resilience and indestructibility, echoing the bodhisattva’s compassionate yet diamond-like mind.

This statue also carries a spirit of sustainability and cultural diplomacy. In commemoration of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Nepal, China presented a red jade Crown Prince statue to Nepal, celebrating friendship and cultural exchange. With compassion as the guiding heart, Master Liu Yuting and fellow artists aim to promote traditional Chinese culture on the global stage. The red jade Crown Prince statue not only embodies Buddhist wisdom and artistry but also stands as a lasting witness to the enduring bond between China and Nepal under the Belt and Road initiative.
