About The Entry

This piece is a new type of footwear that combines a traditional single-tooth geta base with a leather upper inspired by tabi socks.

It draws inspiration from the legendary Tengu, a superhuman figure in Japanese folklore said to stride effortlessly across Japan’s steep mountains wearing single-tooth geta. In such rugged terrain, the single-tooth geta held both symbolic significance and practical function.

By reinterpreting its functionality and mythological meaning, and merging Japanese footwear culture with craftsmanship, this design elevates tradition while harmoniously blending Japanese heritage with European formalwear sensibilities.

Reimagined within an avant-garde and conceptual context, it proposes a new form of formalwear—a singular piece that bridges Japanese and Western cultures into a unique hybrid style.
