ChatSlide is an AI-powered presentation platform launched in 2024 to make slide creation faster, smarter, and more human-centered. Where traditional tools demand endless copy-pasting and manual edits, ChatSlide reimagines the workflow: users upload documents, receive structured outlines in seconds, and refine slides with AI assistance—all in a single, intuitive flow.



Reflecting our mission to empower productivity and storytelling, we redesigned the platform with a cleaner information architecture, inclusive templates, and an interface that adapts seamlessly to both academic users and professionals. Every detail, from tone refinement to accessibility-compliant components, was crafted to reduce friction and let users focus on their ideas. The results speak clearly: the 2024 launch drove a 65% increase in paid subscriptions, while the new design system—built on WCAG standards—cut UI development time by 30%. ChatSlide goes beyond aesthetics or efficiency; it transforms a tedious process into a creative partnership between humans and AI.



As a design team, our challenge was to reposition the product for professionals—especially product managers—who rely on slides daily yet found existing AI workflows unintuitive. Despite strong adoption in academia (92% free accounts), professional conversion lagged at only 8%. Through 10 interviews and 100 surveys, we uncovered three key pain points: fragmented steps, limited AI flexibility, and unclear outlines. Benchmarking against Tome and Gamma revealed our differentiator: multimodal AI that analyzes both prompts and uploaded files to generate tailored content.



Our solution was a single-page outline flow supported by high-fidelity prototypes and iterative usability testing. The improved design featured clearer file guidance, foldable sections for quick scanning, and grammar/tone refinement powered by AI. We also created a new WCAG-compliant design system with reusable components, streamlining collaboration with engineers while ensuring accessibility across user types.



The measurable impact—65% subscription growth and 30% faster development—demonstrates how system thinking, and AI integration can elevate product adoption. Beyond today’s improvements, we envision ChatSlide evolving toward real-time collaboration, voice-activated outline operations, and adaptive personalization powered by machine learning. This project exemplifies how design can balance user needs, business goals, and engineering constraints to create not just a faster workflow, but a meaningfully better one.
