“Brook & Hill Grassland” is rooted on the banks of a Qingcheng Mountain stream. Its interior design is guided by one principle: respect, merge, and converse with nature. All fixed-style labels are abandoned to create a poetic space that lives in symbiosis with its setting.

The communal area rises 6.5 m in a single volume and is wrapped on four sides with folding doors that can disappear entirely, erasing the line between inside and out so guests can “sit and watch the seasons, lie and listen to the brook.” Guest rooms, each 4.8 m high, feel weightless and calm; every room opens to a private courtyard that balances the shared beauty of the forest with personal seclusion.

Local expression drives every detail: indigenous red sandstone, “Guanxian Black” stone, and terrazzo are laid in tactile collisions that echo the surrounding land. Hand-thrown earthenware—wall pieces, objects, tableware—carries the DNA of local craft. The design willingly accepts nature’s traces; grass is allowed to grow through joints in the red stone, turning the interior into a sustainable, regionally warm habitat that breathes with stream and mountain.
