Layering Mountain (層山)

Our public architecture installation art, Layering Mountain, through listening to the environment, the traces of human are connected to the flow of plants in an epitome of coexistence. The Corten Steel plates are shaped and curved to fit different conditions, thus turning the plant-rich location into a 3D ecology island. The layered landscape in the Taitung Forest Park will change with time. It is a micro-ecosystem for native plants and animals. Our works aim to depict a harmonious relation between civilization and nature with the colors of seasons. Our works of art hope to convey and awaken the importance of the sustainable development of the ecological environment and biodiversity in this post-epidemic era.

Layering Mountain is one of the public art work for 2022 Nanhui Art Project in Taitung County, Taiwan. The funding is from Taitung County Government. The beginning exhibition date is August 21, 2022. The main theme “Sprouting Land” is a land of vitality. Generations passed away and the landscape changed. The artist seeks for the harmony between human and nature. Through art, we explore the beauty of the coexistence of nature, life and the material world. Taitung South Link Highway, with its abundance of scenic mountains and ocean, is the Sprouting Land for art, and provides a new vision for the art museums in Taitung.
