Situated along the picturesque Bali Left Bank Park in New Taipei City, the Bali City Sand Sculpture Festival stands as a vibrant expression of waterfront revitalization and the fusion of public art with natural scenery. The Left Bank Park embodies the vision of urban design coexisting harmoniously with nature — where culture, art, and landscape meet in balance.
Now in its eighth edition, the 2025 festival embraces the globally beloved animation Digimon as its creative theme. Iconic characters are reimagined as monumental sand and light sculptures up to four meters tall, merging digital fantasy with exquisite craftsmanship to form an immersive world of imagination.
The exhibition site extends along the waterfront, seamlessly blending with the natural beauty of Bali and the architectural elegance of the Tamsui-Kand Bridge. By day, the golden sands and coastal scenery form a tranquil vista; by night, dynamic lighting transforms the park into a radiant dreamscape.
The festival narrative unfolds in four chapters — Origins, Emblem Trials, Growth Journey, and Ultimate Evolution — guiding visitors through a journey of self-discovery and imagination. Through sound, light, and interactive media, each section explores the themes of companionship, courage, and transformation.
A unique digital psychological test invites participants to find their own “chosen partner,” activating personalized projection effects that deepen emotional resonance and participation. This interactive element bridges the digital and physical realms, redefining how audiences engage with art.
Sustainability is at the heart of the project. Each sculpture is crafted from natural beach sand — returning to nature after the exhibition. This temporary, low-impact design demonstrates the potential of environmentally responsible public art, reflecting the evolving values of modern cultural festivals.
Sand Sculpture Workshop further extends the experience to younger generations. Designed for children aged 8 to 15, the workshop invites participants to learn from professional sculptors, encouraging creativity, curiosity, and a hands-on understanding of art in daily life.
The 2025 Bali City Sand Sculpture Festival exemplifies the future of experiential public art — where classic IP, land art, and digital technology converge to create emotional connections and cultural vitality.
