The Chinese tradition of commemorating history often relies on monumental, iconic forms. While visually striking, this approach can overlook the surrounding landscape and sometimes leads to environmental disruption and resource waste. A meaningful memorial landscape, however, should extend beyond symbolic representation—it should be spiritual, ecological, and interactive.

This project draws inspiration from the architectural concept of dematerialization, seeking to dissolve the boundary between memorial space and everyday environment. By coupling ecological performance with remembrance, the design transforms the memorial into a living, evolving system. On one level, the installation employs inexpensive local materials to mitigate soil erosion and agricultural non-point source pollution. On another, monumentality emerges through the arrangement of points, paths, and color. The installation traces the footsteps of revolutionaries, allowing visitors to perceive historical events at a larger territorial scale and engage with the site through a series of spatial clues.
