About The Entry

This project presents an integrated design for a resort hotel, encompassing public areas—including the lobby, restaurant, conference spaces, leisure facilities, and viewing platforms—as well as guest rooms on each floor. The design scope covers hard finishes, soft furnishings, and lighting, forming a holistic spatial experience.

Guided by the theme of “experiencing the joy of a natural retreat,” the project respects the cultural context of the local Miao community and advocates a philosophy of coexistence between living spaces and nature. Through contemporary design language, it reinterprets the spirit of traditional Miao stilted architecture, creating a serene environment where guests can immerse themselves in the landscape while experiencing human warmth and cultural depth. Nature becomes the backdrop, and space becomes the narrative medium.

The design achieves panoramic integration through oversized floor-to-ceiling windows, open balconies, sky gardens, and a 360-degree viewing platform, allowing mountains, terraced fields, sunrise, and starry skies to seamlessly enter the interior. Each step offers a shifting perspective, creating a continuous visual journey. Structurally, the traditional wooden framework of Miao architecture is reimagined using modern architectural mechanics to reorganize space, expand scale, and increase ceiling heights, resulting in a pioneering resort typology rooted in local tradition.

Material selection emphasizes authenticity and time-honored textures, including raw wood, bamboo weaving, stone, and weathered metal. Light and shadow are carefully orchestrated through skylights, louvers, and translucent materials, forming an atmosphere that evolves throughout the day and enhances emotional resonance. Cultural elements are expressed through abstraction rather than direct replication, allowing Miao traditions to be perceived in a subtle, poetic manner.

Modern comfort and intelligent living are seamlessly integrated. Guest rooms are equipped with smart home systems and refined amenities, balancing functionality with a sense of warmth. Public spaces incorporate cultural experience zones and social areas, encouraging interaction and immersion. Positioned as a high-end resort retreat, the project offers a tranquil escape from urban life, fostering a deep connection between culture, nature, and contemporary living.
