Breathscape reimagines tea as an inhalable ritual system for contemporary life. Rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine and The Classic of Tea (Cha Jing), the project translates traditional understandings of tea, bodily rhythms, and organ awareness into a structured sensory practice centered on breath and time.
The system consists of six tea-derived incense cards, each linked to a specific organ and time segment within the day. Rather than prescribing outcomes, Breathscape invites users to select scents according to daily rhythm, cultivating awareness through breathing, scent perception, and intentional pause.
A reusable ceramic vessel ensures safe burning while collecting ash, which can be returned to soil as a symbolic closing gesture. A printed guide explains the time-based logic, enabling users to integrate the ritual seamlessly into daily routines—without screens, electricity, or complex instructions.
By shifting tea from consumption to inhalation, Breathscape proposes a low-energy, non-digital alternative to contemporary wellness tools. It emphasizes repetition, rhythm, and material interaction, offering a calm and embodied practice that reconnects users with time, breath, and internal balance through design rather than intervention.
