MixC Village, is positioned as a "slow-living island" between city and nature in Dongguan's Bay Area—a destination designed for lasting vitality and appeal. PILLS created a series of IP installations to mark the threshold between urban space and resort experience, using the imagery of clouds as a narrative interface.
The gateway installation “Myriad Cloud” captures the soft yet tensile geometry of clouds, merging eight spherical surfaces into a continuous, ring-like volume. A real-time air pressure monitoring system dynamically adjusts the ratio of air to helium, inflating and deflating throughout the day to maintain the membrane's plump form. With this breathing rhythm, the cloud slowly rises and descends between 3 and 20 meters, as if endowed with its own rhythm of life.
By day, a timed misting system activates, enveloping the entrance plaza in cooling fog—a microclimate intervention that makes the cloud feel almost real. By night, lighting transforms the surface, tracing the narrative of "a day recorded by the cloud" with shifting gradients of waves, sunset, pink twilight, and starry skies. An anemometer continuously monitors wind conditions, automatically lowering the installation when thresholds are exceeded—balancing poetic expression with engineered safety.
The cloud functions as both a visual landmark guiding visitors to "arrive on the island" and a spatial anchor for the project's broader IP narrative. It extends a quiet invitation to all who pass: Come dream awhile. Rediscover the vitality of life.
