Cat Haven Residence is a warm and thoughtfully crafted home designed for a couple and their two beloved cats. Located in a compact 16-ping apartment in Taiwan, the project focuses on creating a harmonious living environment where humans and pets can comfortably coexist. The design balances functionality, aesthetics, and the playful nature of cats while maintaining a calm and welcoming atmosphere.

Natural wood finishes and soft neutral tones establish the foundation of the interior palette. The use of warm materials brings a sense of tranquility to the space while visually expanding the small apartment. Clean lines are softened through a series of gentle curves and rounded forms that appear throughout the design, forming a consistent visual language that enhances spatial fluidity.

A key design strategy is the integration of cat-friendly architectural elements into the main living area. The television wall incorporates custom wooden shelving with circular openings, allowing the cats to climb, explore, and move vertically within the space. These openings create a playful visual composition while simultaneously serving as pathways for the cats.

Above the living area, a curved wooden ceiling platform extends across the room, creating an elevated walkway designed specifically for feline movement. This sculptural ceiling feature not only supports the cats’ natural instinct to climb but also softens the geometry of the ceiling plane, bringing a sense of movement and lightness to the interior.

The TV wall is finished with a special diatomaceous earth coating, chosen for both its subtle natural texture and its environmental functionality. This material helps regulate indoor humidity and improve air quality, contributing to a healthier and more comfortable living environment.

Curved wooden details, rounded edges, and arched forms continue throughout the apartment, creating a gentle rhythm that connects different areas of the home. These elements reinforce the overall concept of softness, warmth, and coexistence.

By carefully integrating pet-friendly features into the architectural design rather than treating them as accessories, the project transforms a modest apartment into a unique living space that celebrates the relationship between people, animals, and the environments they share.
