About The Entry

This project is located in the cultural core of Sui and Tang Dynasty neighborhoods in Luoyang, defined by the ethos of “Millennium Neighborhood & Contemporary Residence.” It establishes a new paradigm for urban boutique hospitality, harmonizing historical significance with contemporary artistic refinement. The design transcends mere accommodation, engaging guests in a dialogue across time to experience the aesthetics of Eastern living within a modern urban context.

Avoiding generic antique pastiche, the design philosophy is rooted in the street and alley order of the ancient Lifang system in the Sui and Tang dynasties. By extracting architectural symbols, such as vaulted ceilings, window lattices, and grilles, and reinterpreting them through a minimalist lens, the project reconstructs the spatial narrative. This achieves a new interpretation of antiquity, seamlessly weaving millennium-old cultural heritage into contemporary life scenes.

Material selection plays a pivotal role in conveying warmth, harmonizing raw wood, natural stone, and artistic paint. The public area is connected by a vaulted corridor, with dark wooden structures interwoven with warm stone bricks. Linear lighting enhances the sense of depth, creating a calm and solemn sense of ceremony. Guest rooms blend the tactile finesse of artistic paint with the rustic authenticity of natural materials. Through layered lighting, traditional elements flow organically into the living experience, striking a balance between functionality and aesthetics.

Using materials as a medium and space as a vessel, the project preserves the vibrant soul of the Lifang culture within the contemporary city, realizing a contemporary translation and living inheritance of heritage. It offers a spiritual sanctuary that merges artistic temperament with Eastern poetry. Here, guests touch the historical texture of the Sui and Tang lineage while enjoying modern comfort.
