About The Entry

Coat Stole 2026 Edition is a conceptual wearable art piece by MICHAIL GKINIS AOYAMA (MGA), a Tokyo-based fashion and wearable art brand founded by Greek designer and artist Michail Gkinis and producer Yuko Gkinis Aoyama. Rooted in Japanese textiles, craftsmanship, and technology, MGA creates garments that explore a new perspective on how clothing can be experienced through the art of wearing.

At the new MGA’s project is the idea of “Clothing Beyond Time.” Coat Stole 2026 Edition embodies this vision by challenging fixed categories of clothing and offering a tailoring form that can shift across silhouettes, identities, and expressions.

A defining element of the design is its multi-axis construction. When worn vertically, it creates a clean, architectural, and contemporary silhouette associated with the rhythm of modern Tokyo. When rotated horizontally, it transforms into a softer, draped expression reminiscent of ancient Greek clothing.

Through the wearer’s creativity, the garment can become a coat, blouson, gilet, parka, or futuristic sculptural wrap. It is one continuous form with multiple possibilities, activated by the wearer. opening a space where structure and fluidity coexist.

We believe that new angle of aspect is always the solution of the issue. If you can see the things in a different way, you will find the new world. We translated this idea into the shape of the garment.

Crafted from carefully selected Japanese textiles, the garment reflects the depth of material culture and generations of refined making. Its construction mixes precision and movement, allowing the piece to shift visually and emotionally in relation to the body. The wearer does not simply wear the garment; they participate in completing it.

Beyond function, Coat Stole 2026 Edition invites self-discovery. It moves beyond fixed boundaries of gender, size, culture, and convention, allowing individuality to emerge through transformation. MGA approaches clothing not merely as product, but as experience: emotional, intellectual, and practical.

We propose a new relationship between body, garment, and time—one that connects contemporary design, cultural memory, and personal freedom within a single evolving piece.
