Inspired by the lotus in Eastern aesthetics, the work Lotus embodies the elegant and serene artistic conception of a lotus pond in a brooch.
Crafted entirely from silver plated 18K white gold, the piece features stretched lines that simulate the blooming posture of lotus flowers. The high-gloss polished finish endows the metal surface with clarity, softness and structural tension. The lotus leaf on the right restores the natural shape of foliage through undulating curved surfaces. Its surface reflects vivid luster under light, echoing the flowing lines of the petals. A rectangular-cut topaz inlaid at the center presents a clear aqua blue hue that resonates with the water scenery of the lotus pond, serving as the visual focal point. Dangling square zircons resemble dewdrops rolling on lotus leaves, swaying gently with the wearer’s movements and infusing dynamic vitality into the static jewelry.
This work interprets Eastern imagery with contemporary jewelry design language, integrating natural rhythm with wearable functionality, and conveying the elegance, purity and free-spirited beauty represented by the lotus. The metal materials used in the piece can be recycled, remelted and reshaped repeatedly. The inlaid topaz and zircons can be completely disassembled for redesign and reuse, minimizing resource waste and practicing eco-friendly and sustainable concepts through circular design. In an era of worsening environmental pollution and increasing ecological pressure, this work hopes to take the refined charm of the lotus as a spiritual guide and arouse people’s appreciation and protection of the natural ecology.
