Allianz’s headquarters at 15 Bishopsgate transforms an existing multi-floor City building into a warm, people-focused workplace inspired by hospitality design. Instead of seeing the building’s curved floorplan and façade as constraints, the design uses them to create a softer architectural style, giving the workplace a clear identity throughout.

This concept appears in rounded booth openings, softened corners, curved counters, ceiling features and flooring transitions. Repeated at different scales, these details create a consistent design language that feels calm, recognisable and less corporate.

At the centre of the headquarters is a community floor that brings together café spaces, lounges, informal work areas and terrace access to create a social hub for staff and visitors. Across the building, workspaces range from collaborative and open to private and focused, with each floor having its own character while still feeling connected to the wider design.

Colour and material help support different moods throughout the workplace. Warm oranges, pale timber, textured fabrics and soft lighting bring depth to café, lounge and communal areas, making them feel more open, social and welcoming. Deep blues and quieter finishes create a calmer tone in meeting, focus and executive settings. The contrast gives the headquarters energy and variety without losing visual control.

Planting adds softness, texture and moments of pause within a busy multi-floor workplace. Suspended greenery above café areas, planted edges around lounges and greenery woven into thresholds balance the stronger architectural lines while helping social spaces feel calmer and more relaxed. Black-framed shelving, arched booth walls, timber linings and the feature boardroom ceiling create memorable moments, each tied back to the curved language and warm material palette.

Sustainability, accessibility and comfort are integrated throughout the project. The building is BREEAM Excellent and the fit-out achieved SKA Gold. Materials, lighting, acoustics, planting, furniture settings, DDA-led tea points and braille plaques to all rooms are considered together, balancing durability, accessibility and visual impact.

The result is a headquarters that feels welcoming, coherent and community-focused, combining hospitality character with practical workplace design.
