Project Background and Site Context
Nestled along the central urban development axis in southern Taiyuan and on Nanzhonghuan Street, a major transportation artery, the site boasts prime TOD development potential. Benefiting from the regional plan for the "High-end Commercial Corridor" of the Jinyang Lake Area, the land around the base holds tremendous potential for stock land development.
Against the backdrop of Taiyuan’s dual reality—economic gains driven by high-efficiency operation alongside a sense of spiritual isolation—the design aims to reverse the decline of conventional commercial projects caused by excessive commercialization. Adopting the dual-core model of "Park + TOD", we transform rigid building masses into a natural-style social lounge in the city center.
Design Concept: From Spatial Container to Lifestyle Generator
The design centers on valuing culture, immersive scenes, diverse experiences and long-term sustainability. Rather than merely pursuing oversized commercial scale, we strive to create an innovative living space that fulfills people’s deep desire for a sense of belonging to the city.
The planning adopts the design strategy of "integrating mountains, waters and green valleys, and blending streets, alleys and buildings". The design naturally extends the landscape of the Fenhe River waterfront to form a three-dimensional commercial cluster and create a multi-dimensional forest-style commercial landmark. A "commercial forest" is embedded into the high-density urban fabric, enabling an organic integration of nature and commercial vitality. This evolution elevates the space from a mere consumption venue to a hub for shared spiritual experience.
