About The Entry

Curbside recycling is broken. Confusing labels, contaminated loads, and no way to know if your efforts ever made a difference. Lasso is the smart home recycling appliance built to fix that. Our team designed the companion app that makes the experience complete — tracking your impact, closing the loop, and guiding you along the way, for anyone at any level of the sustainability journey.

The app bridges the physical and digital through four core features. Machine mirroring reflects every physical state of the appliance in real time: when the loading door opens, a dynamic panel surfaces showing each item loaded, whether accepted or rejected, and why, turning an unfamiliar device into something legible and trustworthy. Impact tracking surfaces concrete data on weight recycled, CO₂ saved, and material breakdown over time, so users see the actual environmental contribution of their habits. Closed-loop destination visibility follows materials through to their outcome, making the invisible infrastructure of recycling transparent for the first time. Scanning lets users instantly check any product to see whether its materials are recyclable or better avoided altogether, moving the decision upstream to the shelf, when they still have a choice.

Traditional recycling apps show collection schedules. Reverse vending apps track bottle deposits. No app on the market follows materials through to their outcome. Lasso is the only solution delivering end-to-end tracking and material-level data, giving recycling a human layer and turning a daily chore into a habit people actually want to keep.
