"Fu Bao", a large-scale public art installation masterminded by artist Sun Lijun, is deeply rooted in the heritage of the Chinese School of Animation and the core of traditional Oriental auspicious culture. The design is anchored in the ancient philosophical concept of "The superior man transforms like a leopard, bringing blessings to all creations". Reimagining traditional mythical beasts, the artwork draws inspiration from local natural and cultural landscapes, ultimately taking form as a monumental 23.03m installation that translates natural dimensions into a public art language. Technique-wise, it is founded on pure hand-drawn creativity, seamlessly integrating modern digital modeling and light-and-shadow rendering. This synergy perfectly blends the spiritual resonance of traditional Chinese “Xieyi” with the visual tension of modern animation. Rejecting cluttered and excessive design elements, the piece utilizes a gentle, dynamic form and a relaxed, elegant posture to convey a humanistic philosophy of natural growth and calm benevolence, establishing a new paradigm for contemporary Chinese public animation art.
Within its spatial context, "Fu Bao" embraces the concept of open sharing, achieving a boundless integration of natural ecology, urban landscape, and artistic creation. Its open spatial layout and wrap-around circulation design build an immersive, multi-dimensional leisure realm for the public. The installation displays a natural, elegant texture during the day, and uses delicate light rendering to reshape the atmosphere at night. It is not merely a visual focal point of the city, but a high-quality public art space dedicated to serving the community.
The creation of "Fu Bao" breaks through the confines of single-region culture, revealing multi-dimensional depth. Culturally and artistically, it shatters the stereotypical forms of traditional auspicious symbols, achieving a modern translation of a mythical beast and forging an original cultural IP with national and international influence. Socially, it not only provides a demonstration model for the industrial development of Chinese original art, but also injects warm spiritual power into contemporary society with its inner spirit of positivity and therapeutic relaxation. Through "Fu Bao," we witness the exquisite creative capability and profound cultural confidence of Chinese original art, as it gracefully steps onto a broader stage of international communication.
