About The Entry

Following a comprehensive aesthetic upgrade of the physical infrastructure, the project seamlessly blends modern aesthetics with youth subculture, offering young people and citizens a brand-new street experience and transforming the area into a dynamic subcultural stage. The shopping district has successfully attracted businesses favored by the younger generation, including bars, stylish bistros, tattoo parlors, and trendy specialty shops. The project also reorganizes the daily flow of the district: Alley 17 of Yuzhu 1st Street is designated as a full-time pedestrian zone, while Yuzhu 2nd Street and Yuzhu 3rd Street retain one-way traffic and logistics functions on weekdays, shifting to pedestrian zones on weekends to form a time-adaptive pedestrian network.

The design replaces rigid barriers with paving extensions, smooth elevation transitions, and soft boundaries, keeping lanes, sidewalks, and buffer zones visually open while clearly distinguishing user tiers. The entrances at Zhongshan Road and Wufu 2nd Road establish distinct recognition through narrowed lanes, landscaped median islands, and gateway imagery. Street furniture, green railings, and terminal vistas seamlessly integrate Central Park, the MRT station's large canopy, and the 85 Sky Tower into the walking experience. A shopping district once fragmented by traffic flow has been transformed into an urban block designed for lingering, socializing, and performing, achieving the dual goals of commercial revival and street culture regeneration, serving as a replicable model for urban renewal.
