"True grandeur resides in modesty."
The Modest Hill is a refined 92-square-meter urban sanctuary crafted for a couple who are seasoned interior designers themselves, sharing their home with two cherished cats. Having immersed themselves in the design industry for years, the homeowners embraced a quiet luxury approach—shedding ostentatious ornamentation in favor of understated elegance, tactile warmth, and spatial serenity.
The interior palette is defined by low-contrast earth tones, mineral textures, and natural timber. The soul of the living area is a recessed circular wall sculpture depicting layered mountain reliefs softly framed by an indirect halo light. Evoking distant misty peaks beneath a full moon, this tranquil focal point reflects the owners’ humble disposition and creative maturity: unpretentious, composed, and enduring like silent hills.
Within the 92-square-meter footprint, the three-bedroom layout was optimized through fluid curves and thoughtful zoning. Upon entering, a rugged chisel-faced stone accent wall and slatted timber screens create a calming threshold, allowing the couple to decompress from city life. In the living space, the television feature wall is draped in natural stone with an elegant curved transition, complementing the contoured coved ceiling and sheer drapery that diffuses daylight. Private quarters seamlessly integrate handleless floor-to-ceiling cabinetry, recessed shelving, and floating workstations to maintain pristine spatial order.
Designed as an inclusive co-living environment for humans and felines, the residence prioritizes safety and effortless maintenance. Rounded corners, scratch-resistant flooring, and low-profile modular seating provide a secure, barrier-free haven where the two cats can freely roam and rest.
The Modest Hill represents the poetry of restraint—where humble living, nuanced craftsmanship, and organic coexistence converge into a timeless home of spiritual quietude.
