City Lounge of Shenyang General Wang

The project is located in Huangu District, Shenyang, with its boundaries extending from Bashan Road in the north to Beiling Street in the west, Heilongjiang Street in the east, and Qishan East Road in the south. It is surrounded by commercial facilities such as Lotte Department Store, Poly Metropolis, and Shenyang Tiandi. Following the design principle of "what you see is what you get," the initial phase serves as a display space for City Lounge of Shenyang General Wang and later transforms into an urban living room, providing leisure, entertainment, and service facilities for City Lounge of Shenyang General Wang residents and the surrounding community without the need for any renovations.

The urban living room is situated along the "Golden Corridor," the central urban corridor of Shenyang, and serves as a vibrant axis of the city. The efficient utilization of existing site resources and maximizing advantages became the primary focus and challenge. We aimed to create a warm urban living room by focusing on the concept of "new urban life on the central axis."

The northwest corner of the site is a prominent urban intersection with a large flow of people, making it the ideal location for the urban living room and the initial experiential area. It also determines the main orientation of the building. Our design approach revolves around interaction with the city, placing human interaction at the core. By returning to the essence of life, we ultimately present a unique spatial experience that alternates between reality and illusion, displaying simplicity and openness.

By carving out void spaces at street corners, we create a sense of place and enhance spatial experiences. Then, we deepen and appropriately segment the building mass, integrating it with the street corner, utilizing overhead void spaces to interact with the outdoors, breaking the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces without compromising its representativeness. Adding facade lines, we deepen the building mass through exquisite line aesthetics, enhancing the contrast between reality and illusion, reconstructing the street corner, and finalizing the design.
