The Nordic Casual Backpack is made from a new sustainable material for Volvo interiors called Nordico, a progressive and technically advanced textiles created from recycled material such as PET bottles, bio-attributed material from sustainable forests in Sweden and Finland, and corks recycled from the wine industry.

Each Nordic Casual Backpack is approximately recycling 46.5 PET bottles, which help to reduce overall carbon emissions and decrease the environment impact. Volvo’s commitment for a more sustainable future met with the creativity of our design team to create a sustainable, upcycling line for handy travel accessories and repurpose materials.

The backpack’s color-blocking design and unique shape are in tune with the times, yet firmly rooted in the essential qualities of Scandinavian design: simplicity, well-being and natural sources. The eco-conscious bag also takes inspiration from a trend identified in ‘The rise of conscious design’, the emerging trend is driven by the design world’s desire for sustainable materials - without compromising on quality.

Technical, clean and pure, the Nordico fabric is water resistant, anti-tearing and easy to clean with color fastness. The thoughtful design of the backpack is offering the users a flexible and convenient luggage space. The bag entrance features a special design that can be rolled down or opened up.

When opened up, it provides a larger capacity for more belongings, making it convenient for users to suddenly need to purchase a large quantity of items. The users only need to unfold the bag opening, then seal it with the flexible buckle, making it practical for users to sort and store to fit various occasions.
