Hunan Daily Media Center

The Hunan Daily Media Centre project integrates three segments: cultural industry, cultural business and supporting retail, and adopts an innovative green ecological system design and diverse skin design strategies. Instead of the traditional full curtain wall system, the project adopts a water recycling and natural ventilation courtyard system, which significantly reduces energy consumption and carbon emissions and enhances the sustainability of the building. The main façade of the tower and podium adopt two-storey through-height openable glass panes, which realise low-carbon energy saving and natural ventilation, reduce air-conditioning usage, improve indoor air quality, and safeguard the health and safety of personnel. Combining modern and traditional aesthetics, the use of a streamlined vertical skin and two-storey open-height glass panes creates a dynamic and elegant appearance, highlighting the building's stability and modernity. By analysing the geometric characteristics and functional requirements of the site, the design team proposed a ‘zero to whole’ approach to create an efficient, energy-saving, low-carbon and environmentally friendly modern office and commercial complex.
