The design of the 2024 Beigang Lantern Festival skillfully integrates traditional and modern elements, highlighting the Chinese Year of the Dragon. Emphasizing the dragon's image and light effects, the modern geometric design outlines local Beigang lanterns, symbolizing the dragon's intricate scales. This fusion presents visual innovation and reinforces the festival's traditional significance and artistic expression.

Using dual imaging technology, the design interweaves golden and colorful dragon patterns. Gold symbolizes the festival's origins and honor, while colors represent cultural diversity, enhancing the festival's visual appeal and depth. The lighting concept extends beyond visual design to include local landmarks such as the Yan Siqi Monument as the dragon's head, old streets, the Beigang Registration Office, and Chaotian Temple forming the dragon's body, ending with the dragon's tail at the Shuitou Cultural Park. This comprehensive approach transforms these sites into artistic scenes of light and shadow at night, providing visitors with a dreamlike experience.

The lighting design emphasizes innovation by combining local culture with modern art. For example, the festival revives the historical old streets of Beigang with modern lighting, integrating traditional crafts with contemporary light art in indoor performance spaces. This blend of old and new enhances the uniqueness and attractiveness of the lighting design.

The festival benefits local government by boosting tourism and economic growth. The innovative design and rich cultural activities attract more visitors, increasing Beigang's fame and promoting local business development and small enterprises. Additionally, improving public spaces and cityscape enhances residents' quality of life and city image. The festival's design aims to create a celebration that showcases traditional culture while reflecting modern innovation, enhancing local cultural identity and driving economic development.
