The project is located in the scenic Xiangyang, Hubei Province, China, covering an area of approximately 22 acres with a building area of 70,000 square meters, consisting of four buildings.

In landscape design, the designer came up with the theme “Pearl by the River · Garden on the Island,” aiming to showcase the ecological and cultural functions of the city featuring a mountain and river. Enhancing the naturalness, the design overlaps urban living scenes with urban design, creating a waterfront landmark that, together with the towers on the east side, forms the “Gate of the Han River.” The continuous lively commercial belt along the river not only ensures the plot ratio but also adds a vivid color to the city.

During the project design process, the designer encountered a series of challenges: firstly, the limited garden space required clever planning to meet diverse needs for activities; secondly, the fire lanes and operation fields occupied a large area, resulting in a demand for solutions to mitigate the potential visual monotony of these large and hard surfaces.

Facing these challenges, the designer proposed the following solutions: to cope with the limited garden space, an axis misalignment technique was adopted to enrich the park’s movement lines, creating a staggered space. The enclosure and openness of the green plants made the visual levels more multidimensional, creating a garden view changing as people proceed; while meeting fire safety requirements, the division of rest and communication spaces was achieved through changes in paving and outdoor decorations, realizing an organic combination of fire safety functions and activity experiences.

In terms of sustainability, ecological water storage and water-saving design concepts were adopted. The plant design is based on native green species, meeting the needs of ecological balance and ensuring sustainability.
