TESSERACT: Adaptive Living Architecture

TESSERACT is an innovative architectural project that transforms how communities interact with their built environments. Developed through a voxel-based robotic material system, it continuously reshapes spaces based on real-time socio-economic dynamics. By leveraging a model of fractional ownership, TESSERACT allows users to trade and share physical space fluidly, creating an adaptive and responsive urban fabric.



The project is grounded in the Integrated Reconfigurable Autonomous Architecture System, which features an "Observe, Generate, [re]Assemble" feedback loop. This system integrates three core components: an interactive platform, a space planning algorithm, and a distributed robotic material system. The interactive platform collects user and environmental data, driving a multi-agent system that autonomously manages spatial configurations. The robotic material system physically transforms spaces through coordinated movements of L-shaped robots.
