NOYARD is a commercial complex that houses ten trendy stores in Gaoxingli Commercial Block. By opening up half of the ground floor area in the form of colonnade, courtyard and atrium, the building becomes more accessible by the public, providing sheltered seating space for passersby and allowing various activities to take place. The heart of building features an atrium that filled with light, inviting people to explore upwards. The new perforated metal skin wraps the original structure like a veil, and also forms the space between the old and new for vegetation planting. Meanwhile, Red staircases around the building connect the interior and exterior spaces like a thread. With a distinctive image and unconventional operation mode, NOYARD has become a key venue in the neighborhood, a commercial spot that shares its space with the city.
