Architecture plays a crucial role in shaping the appearance of our cities, and the diversity of urban buildings is a key characteristic of urban development. This project is located near Songjiang Road, which was once one of Taipei's early commercial centers. The development of Songjiang Road can be traced back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. At that time, this area was considered a suburb outside the North Gate of Taipei, primarily consisting of farmland. However, as the city expanded, the area gradually evolved into a commercial and residential zone.

During the Japanese colonial period, the area around Songjiang Road became one of Taiwan's modern urban districts. The Japanese government implemented urban planning in the region, constructing buildings such as shops, residences, and schools, which reflected the architectural style of Japan at the time. After World War II, following Taiwan’s recovery and economic boom in 1945, the Songjiang Road area underwent a period of rebuilding. Many traditional businesses and handicrafts flourished, resulting in the formation of historically valuable shops and communities.

In the mid to late 20th century, as Taiwan modernized, Songjiang Road entered a phase of urbanization. More modern buildings, commercial towers, and residential complexes were built, while transportation infrastructure improved, connecting Songjiang Road to different parts of the city.

Songjiang Road has witnessed Taipei’s historical transformations—from rural suburbs to a modern district during the Japanese era, and finally into the commercial and creative hub it is today. Each phase of development has left its mark on this street. These traces served as significant inspiration for the exterior design of this project. Urban evolution is not a static process, but a continuous one. Thus, we aimed to express this dynamic nature through the interplay of horizontal and vertical lines on the building's façade, creating a sense of movement. We also sought to craft a unique and dynamic residential in an otherwise ordinary residential environment.
