Qixian Residence is a visionary mixed-use social housing project in the heart of Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. Spanning 0.6 hectares near the iconic Love River and Happiness River, this development redefines urban living standards with its focus on sustainability, inclusivity, and comfort. The project has achieved Green, Smart, and Seismic-Resistant Building certifications and won the prestigious 2024 Taiwan National Outstanding Construction Award (Gold, Planning and Design). Completion is scheduled for 2028.

The 18-story building includes three underground levels for parking, while the first three above-ground floors feature retail spaces and 6,600 square meters of social welfare facilities. The upper floors house 606 thoughtfully designed residential units. The design maximizes energy efficiency by reducing heat gain and optimizing ventilation. The north-south oriented structure features two towers interconnected by a sky garden plaza on the fourth floor for inviting natural light and breezes from the nearby Love River. Light-colored tiles, recessed windows, sunshades, and rooftop landscaping further minimize heat absorption and mitigate the urban heat island effect. The dynamic façade balances form and function, complementing Kaohsiung’s cityscape while emphasizing livability and environmental sustainability.

Furthermore, the project’s design seamlessly integrates environmentally conscious principles. Rooftop solar panels generate renewable energy, while permeable pavements and green roofs manage rainwater and enhance biodiversity. Native vegetation on terraces, balconies, and community plazas creates recreational areas, supports ecological balance, and increases carbon sequestration. An automated irrigation system and energy management platform optimize resource efficiency, demonstrating the project’s commitment to smart technology.

More than a residential development, Qixian Residence is a community hub fostering social connections and inclusivity. Green walking paths, large trees, and abundant bicycle parking promote sustainable mobility and reduce carbon emissions. Multifunctional social welfare space in the lower levels, along with universal design principles, ensure barrier-free access for all age groups and abilities.

By seamlessly integrating sustainability, design innovation, social impact, and architectural aesthetics, Qixian Residence sets a benchmark for urban excellence. It embodies a visionary approach to creating resilient, inclusive communities while enhancing the beauty and functionality of modern architecture, making it a strong candidate for global design accolades.
