As cultural confidence grows stronger amid the wave of cultural renaissance, high-end clients are increasingly drawn to traditional culture (e.g. Song Yun, namely essence of the Song culture), seeking to enrich modern life with profound cultural deposits. The primary target demographic—affluent families born in the 1970s—pursues not only material comfort but also spiritual fulfillment through cultural identity and status symbols. Zhoushan, a city renowned for its unique maritime culture and Buddhist heritage (centered around Mount Putuo), provides abundant cultural inspiration for this project.

The project ingeniously blends Zhoushan’s local culture, the Song aesthetics, and modern design. With “lotus” as its soul, “harmony” as its rhythm, and “fusion” as its essence (the three share the same pronunciation in Chinese), it creates a poetic space where modernity and Eastern cultural charm coexist harmoniously. Simplicity and elegance—two typical characteristics of the Song aesthetics—are perfectly reflected in the spatial layout. The philosophy of “Liu Bai” (to leave blankness), commonly used in the Song architecture, is introduced into the project for an ethereal and tranquil atmosphere. Meanwhile, furniture features clean, fluid lines, and reinterprets the classic furniture in the Song Dynasty through modern materials. Zhoushan’s maritime culture is abstractly expressed. For instance, the first-floor walls are decorated with wave-textured reliefs, which, under the light, bring to mind a shimmering sea surface. Furthermore, natural materials (wood, stone, etc.), along with soft colors (beige, gray, blackish green, etc.), exude modest luxury, while modern materials like metal and Prada Green Marble add a touch of modernity. Every design element of the project has a dual purpose—serving as both a cultural anchor and a modern breakthrough.

The spatial layout skillfully marries openness with enclosure, well adaptable to multi-generational living scenarios. The cleverly designed functional zones strike a balance between privacy and interactivity, contributing to a harmonious living environment. Moreover, considerate details like barrier-free facilities and smart home systems significantly enhance the living experience, fully satisfying the demand of discerning clients for a quality life.
