In the mystical realm of Menglian, south of the Yunnan, a unique space – Nanya Village's Avocado Serenity Realm (themed around avocados) – is telling the stories of this borderland's vitality and legends through its distinctive interior design to the world. This project is not merely the construction of an avocado-themed manor but also a deep exploration and modern reinterpretation of local culture, aiming to create an ethnic cultural experience destination that integrates industrial demonstration, rural revitalization, and cultural tourism display.
Menglian, this land has nurtured diverse ethnic cultures such as Dai, Lahu, and Va. Its unique geographical climate provides ideal conditions for the avocado industry. Our design inspiration is deeply rooted in the soul of this land, extracting core design elements from the Va ethnic group's clothing patterns, traditional headdresses, and mystical ox totem worship; the traditional clothing colors of the Lahu ethnic group; and the architectural layout and color aesthetics of the Dai ethnic group's "Nayun Ancient Town." These elements are not simply replicated but are deconstructed, reorganized, and artistically refined, transforming them into the textures, colors, and narrative language of the space.
This project extensively uses local timber, bamboo, rattan, rammed-earth textured coatings, and ethnic-style stone, showcasing the warmth and simplicity of natural materials. The wooden beam structures of the ceilings, the textured coatings on the walls, and the antique-style bricks and stones on the floors all echo the architectural wisdom of traditional local dwellings. Especially in areas like the reception hall and guesthouse rooms, ethnic textiles such as Dai brocade, Lahu embroidery, and Va weaving are widely used for curtains, bedding, cushions, and tapestries. Their delicate craftsmanship and unique patterns infuse the space with a rich cultural atmosphere and a warm, human touch.
The overall space features the natural green of avocados as its primary color palette, ranging from fresh light greens to deep, calm dark greens, creating a tranquil atmosphere reminiscent of an avocado grove. On this foundation, vibrant golds and reds of the Dai, deep blacks and reds of the Lahu, and rustic earth yellows and ochres of the Va are subtly integrated.
